Ms. Allison is originally from the Marquette, Michigan area in the U.P. She moved to Grafton, WI, this summer. She currently attends Concordia University Wisconsin, and is enrolled in the Accelerated Occupational Therapy Graduate Program. She will be receiving her bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitative science in May 2021, and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in December of 2022. Her plans for the future would be to work as pediatric Occupational Therapist in a children’s hospital, school or outpatient setting. As a child, Allison took swim lessons at her local high school and loved it. As a child, her favorite part about camping was always going swimming. She also loved going to the beach in Marquette, right on Lake Superior. When it comes to working with children, she has volunteered as a crew leader for her church’s vacation bible school for many summers. She has also done babysitting and nannying. She has also been a camp counselor for her home town school district’s annual camping trip for 5th and 7th graders. She has also served as a behavior technician for a child with autism. She has certified with OSHA, CPR and First Aid, and currently will work toward other certifications. Allison wishes to teach her swim students how fun swimming can be, and how it can be a lifelong activity. She likes how therapeutic water can be from a rehabilitation perspective and, she loves the wellness and fitness it can provide. She also wants kids to not be afraid of the water and learn important water safety skills to prevent drowning. She loves swimming because it is a great workout, and there are many opportunities it gives her – such as snorkeling in Hawaii. Besides swimming, Allison’s other interests include cooking new recipes, mountain biking, downhill skiing and making videos and editing them.
